Hubble Cantata Premieres on the West Coast
27 Sep 2017
Following two successful performances at the 2016 BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival and the Kennedy Center’s Centennial Celebration, Nathan returns to Hubble Cantata for its West Coast premiere on October 11 at the Ford Theatres in Los Angeles. Composed by Paola Prestini with a libretto by Royce Vavrek, this space-inspired cantata features Eliza McNitt’s virtual reality film, Fistful of Stars.
Speaking on Hubble Cantata, Nathan elaborates, “It takes a big topic—the universe—and distills it into a personal experience about finding someone who has been lost, finding that loved one who has been taken from us, and looking into gigantic, infinite space to find that person.”
Nathan is joined by soprano Jessica Rivera, the LA Opera Orchestra, LA Opera Chorus, and Los Angeles Children’s Chorus.
