ABC Classic FM Interview with Nathan Gunn

Nathan Gunn has performed in renowned opera houses all over the world. His opera roles include title roles in Billy Budd, Eugene Onegin, Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Hamlet. He is also a frequent interpreter of new works and has created new roles including in Andre Previn's Brief Encounter at the Houston Grand, and in operas for Glyndebourne Opera Festival and at the Metropolitan Opera.

He recently appeared in performances of Camelot with the New York Philharmonic and Showboat at Carnegie Hall. He has released solo albums. Nathan is Professor of Voice at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana where he is also an alumni. He trained at the Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artists Program and was the winner of the 1994 Metropolitan Opera National Council Competition.

He is in Australia to perform “An Evening with Mandy Patinkin and Nathan Gunn”. The show tours to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. In Melbourne the show is on Thursday November 21st at Hamer Hall in the Arts Centre. In Sydney it’s on Tuesday November 26 at the Concert Hall in the Sydney Opera House. Then the show goes to Brisbane for Thursday 28th November at the Concert Hall, QPAC.

The duo will perform two dozen songs including solos and duets – some from Mandy Patinkin’s world of broadway and some from Nathan’s world of opera.
