Nathan performs Leonard Bernstein’s Arias and Barcarolles in Chicago and New York
19 Oct 2017
As part of the two-year celebration of composer Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birthday, Nathan sings Arias and Barcarolles in Chicago on October 24 and in New York City on October 29 for Harris Theater and Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
Discussing Bernstein, Nathan notes, “what I love about Bernstein and Arias and Barcarolles is that it’s his voice, but it’s very specific to the time in which he wrote. It’s musically very challenging, but Bernstein does it in a way that is easily received by the audience. You might not realize you’re getting a twelve-tone row until it’s over.”
The concert also features soprano Susanna Phillips, mezzo-soprano Tamara Mumford, and tenor Nicholas Phan with Sebastian Knauer and Anne-Marie McDermott at the piano.
