On November 9, Nathan Gunn performs as the Pirate King in a semi-staged production of The Pirates of Penzance at Krannert Center for the Arts.

Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic operetta follows Frederic, a young man who has been apprenticed to the Pirate King and a band of merry pirates until his 21st birthday. Once released from his duties, Frederic falls in love with Mabel, the beautiful daughter of Major-General Stanley. However, upon learning that he was born on a leap year, Frederic must decide where his true duty lies.

Nathan is joined by the students and faculty of the Lyric Theatre @ Illinois and the Sinfonia da Camera. Dawn Harris, Resident Director at Lyric Theatre @ Illinois, directs.
